Limited workload in Week 2
Douglas was on the field for six of a possible 74 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Per Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, Douglas -- who caught both of his targets Sunday for 19 yards -- didn't record any offensive snaps after losing a fumble on the final play of the first quarter of the contest. Looking ahead, Douglas will look to bounce back from his Week 2 turnover this coming weekend versus the Jets, but with veteran WRs DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kendrick Bourne also in the mix in addition to TEs Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki, the promising 2023 sixth-rounder…read more

Four catches in opener
Douglas logged 33 of a possible 80 snaps on offense in Sunday's season-opening 25-20 loss to the Eagles en route to catching four of his seven targets for 40 yards, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Both Douglas and fellow rookie Kayshon Boutte saw added snaps Week 1 with DeVante Parker (knee) inactive. Once their veteran counterpart is back in action, Douglas' target volume could take a hit, but the 2023 sixth-rounder nonetheless should remain a factor on a weekly basis to some degree while working in a New England WR corps that also features Kendrick Bourne and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Cleared for opener
Douglas (shoulder) isn't listed on the Patriots' Week 1 injury report released Wednesday.
Analysis: The rookie sixth-round pick was one of New England's summer standouts and is now expected to begin the regular season somewhere between third and fifth in the pecking order at wide receiver. Even if he's a backup initially, Douglas could get his shot in a top-three role soon enough, given that New England's trio of veteran wideouts -- JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne -- is neither formidable nor reliable.

Spotted in non-contact jersey
Douglas (shoulder) was spotted wearing a red non-contact jersey during Sunday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The severity of the issue remains unclear, but Reiss speculates that the rookie wideout is dealing with a minor shoulder injury that occurred when he was tackled during New England's second preseason game, which was versus Green Bay. Douglas, a sixth-round pick, has been a "pleasant training camp surprise," per Chad Graff of The Athletic, and he could carve out a role in the Patriots' pass-catching corps before long.

Rested for preseason finale
Douglas isn't in uniform for Friday's preseason game against the Titans and may have already earned a role in the New England offense, Mark Daniels of MassLive reports.
Analysis: Chad Graff of The Athletic reports that the rookie sixth-round pick has been New England's "most pleasant training camp surprise" and could finish the season as the team's No. 3 receiver. Douglas may start off only fourth or fifth on the depth chart, but his roster spot at least appears safe as the Patriots begin preparations for Week 1 against Philadelphia.

Making case for roster spot
In his latest projection, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site suggests that Douglas is a good bet to make the team's Initial 53-man roster.
Analysis: Per Lazar, Douglas, whom the Patriots list at 5-foot-8, 192 pounds, displays quickness and burst as a route runner that the team's other receivers do not. As things stand, the 2023 sixth-rounder is competing with Kayshon Boutte, Tre Nixon and Thyrick Pitts for what could be the team's final WR spot behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne and Tyquan Thornton. If the Liberty product does make the team, Douglas would figure to begin his pro career off the fantasy radar, but if…read more

Standing out at camp
Douglas has been one of the early standouts of Patriots training camp, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie sixth-round pick has seen daily work with the first-team offense, mostly out of the slot, with teammate Jabrill Peppers noting Monday that Douglas is "tough as nails" and shows surprising "physicality" for an undersized wide receiver. To that end, the Patriots optimistically list Douglas at 5-foot-8 and 192 pounds, though he was a mere 170 just five months ago when he ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Regardless of his actual weight, Douglas seems to be…read more
