Nabs pick vs. Texans
Bynum recorded six total tackles (five solo) and one interception during Sunday's 34-7 win over the Texans.
Analysis: The fourth-year pro was one of two Vikings to intercept C.J. Stroud during Sunday's blowout win, picking off a deep shot to Nico Collins in the fourth quarter. Bynum has recorded just 18 total tackles across the Vikings' first three contests this season, but that output is expected to increase after he posted 137 total tackles in 2023. Expect Bynum to continue making plays for a red-hot Vikings defense as the team travels to Green Bay in Week 4.

Leads team in tackles
Bynum recorded 137 total tackles and nine pass deflections, including two interceptions in 17 games for the Vikings in the 2023 regular season.
Analysis: Bynum's productivity increased tremendously in his second season as a starter on the Vikings' defense, ranking first on the team in total tackles and second in both pass deflections and interceptions. The third-year pro's rookie contract will keep him in Minnesota through the 2024 season, but Bynum could very well see his contract extended after his 2023 campaign. Expect the 25-year-old to try and add another productive season to his resume in 2024.

Second-most tackles in loss
Bynum finished Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Packers with 10 tackles (five solo).
Analysis: Bynum reached double-digit tackles for the fourth time this season. Sunday's game was the first time this season that he did not play every single defensive snap, but he still managed to finish second on the team in tackles behind Ivan Pace. Bynum has a career-high and team-leading 130 tackles over 16 games this season.

Bynum recorded eight tackles (six solo) and forced two fumbles in Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Bynum tied for third on Minnesota in stops in the defeat, reaching eight tackles for the fourth time over his past five games. The third-year safety also forced a pair of fumbles, the latter of which was recovered by the Vikings for a turnover. Through 15 games, Bynum has tallied a career-high 120 stops (85 solo) along with a pair of interceptions and 0.5 sacks.

Seven tackles in Week 8 win
Bynum had seven tackles (six solo), including half a sack, in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Packers.
Analysis: He also had two pass deflections on the day and played a large part in limiting Jordan Love and the Packers to 196 net passing yards. Bynum leads the Vikings' defense with 76 tackles on the year and is only five short of the 81 he had over 17 games in the 2022 season. He could surpass that total as early as Week 9 against the Falcons.

Tackling machine early in 2023
Bynum had 15 tackles (six solo), including one tackle for loss, in Thursday's 34-28 loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: Bynum was the leading tackler for a Minnesota defense that got plenty of opportunities to rack up tackles against a run-heavy Philadelphia offense that rushed for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Thursday's 15 tackles marked a new career high for the 2021 fourth-round draft pick, who has 25 tackles (11 solo) through two games in 2023.

Has 10 tackles in season opener
Bynum started at safety opposite Harrison Smith and had 10 total tackles in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Bynum picked up where he left off last season when he had a breakout season as the starting free safety. It was thought 2022 first-round pick Lewis Cine may challenge for the starting free safety role, but he struggled in the preseason and was limited to special teams in the opener. Bynum was also strong in pass coverage, as he allowed three receptions on four targets but for just 12 yards according to Pro Football Focus.

Pops in sophomore season
Bynum registered a career-high 81 tackles (49 solo) and added six pass breakups, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries while playing in all 17 regular-season games in 2022.
Analysis: Bynum doubled his production in pass breakups while nearly tripling his number of tackles from his rookie campaign with Minnesota. The 2021 fourth-round pick saw the majority of his playing time on special teams in the previous season, but he opened the 2022 campaign in an every-down role alongside veteran strong safety Harrison Smith. The 24-year-old Bynum maintained this role throughout the entirety of the campaign after rookie first-round pick Lewis Cine went down with a season-ending…read more

Registers game-high nine stops
Bynum recorded nine tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Bynum was the only player on Minnesota's defense who never left the field in last weekend's matchup versus Green Bay, and he also set a new season high with nine tackles in the contest. He's more than likely to continue serving as an every-down safety in Week 18 against Chicago.

Notches second INT of 2022
Bynum posted two passes defended, including one interception, to go along with seven tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 27-22 victory versus the Jets.
Analysis: Bynum sealed this last-minute win for Minnesota, as he stepped in front of a pass intended for wide receiver Corey Davis on the Jets' final play from scrimmage. This marked the second-year safety's second pick and his sixth pass defended of the 2022 campaign -- both of which represent career highs. Bynum has also been a consistent tackler (57) while playing every defensive snap for the Vikings this season. He'll look to continue playing a prominent role alongside Harrison Smith in Week 14…read more

Eight stops in blowout loss
Bynum recorded eight tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 40-3 defeat to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Bynum matched his season-best eight-tackle performance from Week 8, though the Vikings suffered their second lopsided loss of the season. The free safety has played every defensive snap for Minnesota this season, recording 47 tackles (29 solo), three passes defended and one interception. Bynum should continue to put up consistent stats while playing an every-down role against New England on Thanksgiving Day.

Six tackles in win
Bynum had six total tackles in Sunday's win over New Orleans in London.
Analysis: Bynum started at free safety and played on all of the defense's 60 snaps. With first-round draft pick Lewis Cine suffering a broken leg in Sunday's win, Bynum will likely be the starter at free safety for the rest of the season.

Starts at free safety
Bynum started at free safety and had seven total tackles in Sunday's win over Green Bay.
Analysis: Bynum played on all 61 of the defense's snaps with first-round draft pick Lewis Cine missing Sunday's game with a knee injury. Cine was a strong candidate to win the starting free safety job, but he may now be eased into action. Bynum may play the bulk of snaps in the near term as a result.

Listed as starting safety
Bynum is listed as Minnesota's starting free safety on the team's first preseason depth chart released Wednesday, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.
Analysis: He's in a battle for the job with first-round draft pick Lewis Cine. Bynum's placement atop of the depth chart is likely in deference to his veteran status, given that he mostly played on special teams in 2021. Even if Cine breaks camp as a starter, Bynum should get plenty of snaps in the secondary this season.

Enters COVID protocols
Bynum was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports, as a result of testing positive for the virus, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Analysis: Bynum has been more a contributor on special teams than on defense this season. The rookie will try to clear protocols in time for Sunday against the Bears so he can end the season on the field and not in quarantine.

Has sack in another start
Bynum started at safety opposite Xavier Woods and had six total tackles, a sack and a pass defensed in Sunday's win at the Chargers.
Analysis: Bynum drew a second consecutive start with Harrison Smith on the COVID-19 list. He's played so well in his first two starts (and first two games with significant playing time on defense) that he should continue to have a larger reserve role when Smith returns.

Records interception as starter
Bynum logged 12 tackles (nine solo) and an interception in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Bynum drew the Week 9 start after Harrison Smith (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, and he responded with a dominant performance against Baltimore. The rookie finished second on the team with 12 tackles and recorded his first career interception. The 23-year-old will likely start once again if Smith remains out Sunday against the Chargers.

Gets start at safety
Bynum will start at safety in place of Harrison Smith, who will not play after being placed on the COVID-19 list, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Bynum has played just nine snaps on defense as he's mostly been used on special teams (127 snaps). Still, he could get plenty of work in a secondary that may struggle without Smith and cornerback Patrick Peterson.

Two tackles in pro debut
Bynum had two total tackles in Sunday's overtime loss at Cincinnati.
Analysis: Bynum played all 23 of his snaps on special teams, so the 2021 fourth-round draft pick will have a deep depth role on defense to begin the season.
