Cut by Jacksonville again
The Jaguars cut Funk from the practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: It's the second time Funk has been let go from Jacksonville's practice squad this season. He was elevated from the Jaguars' practice squad to the active roster for Week 7 and 8, though he did not play a single snap across those two contests. Funk will look to catch on with a team in need of running back depth on the practice squad.

Returns to Jacksonville
Funk signed with the Jaguars' practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Funk was just cut Tuesday by the team but is back on board about 24 hours later. The Maryland product has suited up twice for Jacksonville this season but has yet to get in a game.

Let go by Jacksonville
The Jaguars cut Funk from the practice squad Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Funk was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for each of the Jaguars' last two games, but he did not play a snap in each of those contests. The 2021 seventh-round draft pick will explore his next options and look to join a team in need of backfield depth.

Returns to practice squad
Funk reverted to the Jaguars' practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Funk was active but did not play in the team's 30-27 loss to the Packers in Week 8. He operated as a depth option behind Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson at running back against Green Bay and could do so again Sunday in Philadelphia if Travis Etienne (hamstring) remains unavailable.

Elevated to face Packers
The Jaguars elevated Funk from the practice squad Saturday, ahead of Sunday's home matchup against the Packers, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Funk's elevation from the practice squad may indicate that Travis Etienne (hamstring), who is considered a game-time decision, is trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's contest against Green Bay. Even if Etienne can't suit up Week 8, though, Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson will rank clearly ahead of Funk on the backfield depth chart, leaving him with only a path to a reserve role.

Reverts to practice squad
Funk reverted to the Jaguars' practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Funk was elevated ahead of Sunday's matchup versus the Patriots to provide extra depth as Travis Etienne was sidelined with a hamstring injury. However, Funk ended up not seeing any playing time, with Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson handling all the snaps at running back.

Elevated ahead of Week 7
The Jaguars elevated Funk from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Funk was unable to make the Lions' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he managed to catch on with the Jaguars' practice squad Oct. 1. His elevation to the active roster gives the Jags some insurance in the backfield in case Travis Etienne (hamstring) cannot play Sunday against the Patriots. If Etienne is inactive, Funk would serve as Jacksonville's No. 3 running back behind Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson.

Finds new opportunity
Funk signed with the Jaguars' practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: Funk spent training camp with the Lions but wasn't able to secure a 53-man roster spot. He's been a free agent since, but he'll now have a chance to make an impression in Jacksonville. In a corresponding move, the Jaguars cut fellow running back Jalen Jackson from the practice squad.

Misses out on roster spot
Funk was waived by the Lions on Tuesday.
Analysis: Funk got some early-season run in the NFL with the Colts last year but was used mostly on special teams. He was cut by Indianapolis in early October, then had stints on the Dolphins' and Ravens' practice squads. Funk struggled to find running room for the Lions during the preseason, gaining just 62 yards on 22 carries, and he also hauled in three of nine targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in the passing game.

Staying with Detroit
Funk signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Funk signed with Detroit's practice squad last week and will now have an opportunity to stick around in the organization heading into the 2024 season. The 26-year-old was most recently a member of Baltimore's practice squad before he was cut loose earlier this month when the Ravens added Dalvin Cook. Prior to his stint in Baltimore, Funk's lone NFL appearances this season came as a member of the Colts, with whom he appeared in four games and carried two times for 10 yards to go with a 12-yard…read more

Gets look from Detroit
The Lions signed Funk to their practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Funk was most recently a member of Baltimore's practice squad before he was cut loose earlier this month when the Ravens added Dalvin Cook. The Maryland product originally joined the NFL as a seventh-round selection of the Rams in 2021 and has also seen regular-season action with the Colts. Funk will join Detroit's practice unit as a replacement for fellow running back Jermar Jefferson (undisclosed), who was placed on the practice squad injured list.

Gets let go
Funk was cut from the Ravens' practice squad Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Funk was added to Baltimore's practice squad Dec. 19, when Keaton Mitchell was placed on injured reserve after suffering a ruptured ACL. However, after the addition of fellow running back Dalvin Cook, the Maryland product was chosen as the odd man out, and his time with the Ravens will come to an end.

Joins Ravens' practice squad
The Ravens signed Funk to their practice squad Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With rookie Keaton Mitchell now out for the rest of the season with a ruptured ACL, Baltimore felt it necessary to add some depth at running back ahead of Week 16. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are currently the only healthy halfbacks on the Ravens' active roster, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Funk get elevated from the practice squad as soon as Monday.

Cut from practice squad
The Dolphins cut Funk from the practice squad Saturday.
Analysis: Funk spent a little over a month in Miami after he was cut by the Colts earlier in the season. The 2021 seventh-round pick of the Rams is no longer needed with the Dolphins' backfield returning to full health. Funk has four career carries for 15 yards.

Joins Dolphins' practice squad
Miami is signing Funk to the practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Funk, who was cut by the Colts on Saturday and cleared waivers Monday, now gets a chance to operate as an emergency reserve option for a Dolphins squad that may be without rookie sensation De'Von Achane (knee) for multiple weeks. He scored through the air while handling three total touches Week 1, but contributed exclusively on special teams from Weeks 2 to 4.

Funk was waived by the Colts on Saturday.
Analysis: The big news in the NFL on Saturday was Indianapolis signing Jonathan Taylor (ankle) to an extension and activating him from the reserve/PUP list, which necessitated a corresponding move to open a roster spot. Funk was the player the Colts chose to part ways with after the four-year vet was limited to special-teams work each of the past three weeks. Limited to special teams
Funk did not have a carry or target in Sunday's win at Houston. He didn't play a snap on offense and was limited to five snaps on special teams.
Analysis: Funk had two carries and a reception in Week 1, but he moved to a deep reserve role with the return of Zack Moss from a broken arm. Funk may permanently move to the practice squad if Jonathan Taylor (ankle) returns from the PUP list in Week 5.

Joins 53-man roster
Indianapolis signed Funk to its active roster Tuesday ahead of Sunday's game at Houston.
Analysis: The move comes in correspondence with placing fifth-round rookie Evan Hull (knee) on the injured reserve list. Presumed starter Zack Moss is dealing with a forearm injury, and change-of-pace man Deon Jackson has demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away, so Funk could very well be involved as early as Week 2.

Back to practice squad
Funk reverted to Indianapolis' practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Funk is back on the practice squad after carrying the ball twice for 12 yards and catching his only target for 12 yards during Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, with most of those touches coming in the second half after Evan Hull (knee) got hurt. If Hull's out for an extended time, Funk could find himself back on the active roster.

Gets work as third RB
Funk had two carries for 10 yards and one reception for 12 yards on his only target in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.
Analysis: Funk, who was elevated from the Colts' practice squad Saturday, got playing time in the second half with Evan Hull suffering a knee injury and Deon Jackson struggling (two fumbles). Funk could have a larger role in Week 2 against the Texans if Zack Moss (arm) remains sidelined, Hull can't return and Jackson's role is reduced due to his poor outing. Funk is more likely to return to a limited depth role, especially if Moss is active.

Joins active roster
Funk was elevated from the Colts' practice squad Saturday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Funk signed with the Colts' practice squad Wednesday.

Scores another preseason TD
Funk had five carries for 18 yards, including a four-yard touchdown, in Saturday's preseason win over Chicago.

Nine touches in preseason opener
Funk had seven carries for 13 yards, including a one-yard touchdown, and two receptions for 10 yards in Saturday's preseason loss at Buffalo.
Analysis: Funk was the third running back to get a carry in the game, which may say more about Indy's running back depth than his chances to make the team. With Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss out due to injury, Funk may see a lot of work during the preseason. However, he may not make the final roster if Taylor returns to action.

No offensive snaps
Funk played exclusively on special teams and recorded no stats during Thursday's 31-10 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Even with Kyren Williams (ankle) leaving the game early, Funk never took an offensive snap while the majority of the rushing load fell to Darrell Henderson. Cam Akers also sits in front of Funk on the depth chart, meaning Funk's path to playing time and fantasy relevance may still be difficult even with Williams likely to miss a chunk of time with a high-ankle sprain.

Doesn't do much with big workload
Funk rushed 12 times for 32 yards and caught his only target for five yards in Saturday's 16-7 preseason loss to the Bengals. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Funk played in all four quarters, splitting work with Trey Ragas while the Rams gave rookie Kyren Williams the night off. Williams seems to have secured the third-string running back spot over Funk, who did little to improve his standing in the competition Saturday. Funk could still make the team, especially if the Rams have any uncertainty over the availability of Cam Akers (undisclosed) or Darrell Henderson (undisclosed) moving forward.

Just two touches Friday
Funk rushed once for no gain and secured his only target for minus-1 yard in the Rams' 24-20 preseason loss to the Texans on Friday night.
Analysis: With neither Cam Akers nor Darrell Henderson suiting up due to undisclosed injuries, Funk served as the starting running back but actually saw less work than during the preseason-opening win against the Chargers. The 2021 seventh-round pick logged most of his game action on special teams last season, and he's likely headed for a similar role in 2022 if he sticks on the final 53-man roster.

Funk is getting additional reps while Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson are not practicing due to soft-tissue injuries, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Sean McVay said that the Rams are "just being smart" with their top two running backs in limiting their time on the practice field, and Funk has been the recipient of a healthy share of the workload in their absence, including six carries for 16 yards in the Rams 29-21 win over the Chargers on Saturday. Nine touches Saturday
Funk rushed six times for 16 yards in Saturday's 29-22 win over the Chargers. He also caught one of two passes for 10 yards and returned two kicks for 36 yards.
Analysis: Funk didn't light up the stat sheet Saturday, but he did show off a multi-faceted skill set beyond his rushing ability with his reception and two kick returns. Brandon Powell (knee) and Tutu Atwell will likely serve as the primary return men for the Rams during the regular season, but Funk's abilities on special teams may help swing the second-year running back onto the roster and into a backup role, especially if Kyren Williams (foot) isn't ready to go to start the regular season.

Rushes twice against Cards
Funk rushed twice for five yards during the 34-11 wild-card round victory over Arizona on Monday. He played four offensive snaps.
Analysis: The seventh-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft matched his regular-season numbers against the Cardinals on Monday. Funk rushed once in the second quarter and on the final offensive play of the game for the Rams, and he projects to have a limited role again this week against the Buccaneers with Cam Akers and Sony Michel healthy and running well.

Plays two snaps Week 16
Funk carried once for minus-1 yard while playing two of the Rams' 70 offensive snaps in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Vikings.
Analysis: Sony Michel carried the load for the Rams, toting the rock 27 times and leaving little work left over for anyone else. With Darrell Henderson (knee) moving to injured reserve Tuesday, Funk could be first in line to ascend to the No. 2 role Week 17 in Baltimore, but he's not likely to have a major role behind Michel. Additionally, Cam Akers (Achilles) could be ready to make his season debut this weekend, in which case Funk would be third in line for backfield work.

Funk (hamstring) was designated to return from IR on Sunday.

Funk has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2021 season due to a torn hamstring that may require surgery, J.B. Long of the Los Angeles Rams Radio Network reports.

Funk (hamstring) won't return to Sunday's game against the Giants, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

No offensive snaps Week 4
Funk played exclusively on special teams and didn't record any stats during Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: With Darrell Henderson inactive for Week 3, Funk saw 14 offensive snaps. However, with Henderson back in the mix for Week 4, the rookie was relegated to special-teams duties. The Maryland product is firmly supplanted behind both Sony Michel and Henderson on the depth chart and does not provide any immediate fantasy upside.

Handles single carry in win
Funk rushed once for six yards and played 14 offensive snaps during Sunday's 34-24 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The rookie's only carry was the first rush of the game for the Rams, and then Funk gave way to Sony Michel. Michel took 20 totes for 67 yards, and while those numbers don't jump off the stat sheet, the Buccaneers boast a formidable run defense. With Darrell Henderson (ribs) potentially back in the mix for Week 4, and Michel clearly ahead of Funk in the backfield pecking order, there's not a lot of immediate fantasy upside for the first year rusher out of Maryland.

To have bigger role Sunday
Funk is set for an expanded role Sunday against the Buccaneers with Darrell Henderson (ribs) inactive for the contest, Jordan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Rodrigue labels Funk as a "featured" back along with veteran Sony Michel, but given the latter's edge in experience and solid second-half showing (10 carries, 46 yards) against the Colts in Week 2, it's reasonable to expect he'll pace the backfield in carries. Nevertheless, Funk should be in line for a solid complementary role at a minimum after playing just three snaps from scrimmage over the first two games of his NFL career, all coming last Sunday against Indianapolis.

No offensive snaps
Funk logged 11 snaps on special teams during Sunday's 34-14 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Funk failed to see any snaps on offense, as fellow running backs Darrell Henderson and Sony Michel carried the load. Henderson totaled 16 carries while Michel logged just one carry. As the No. 3 running back on the team, Funk will likely have difficulty finding consistent opportunities on offense. It's hard to imagine a path to fantasy relevance for the 5-foot-10, 203-pound rookie if both Henderson and Michel can stay healthy. The Rams are set to take on the Colts in Week 2.

Funk has more competition for snaps following the Rams' trade for fellow running back Sony Michel on Wednesday, Kevin Modesti of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: While the majority of rookie seventh-round picks have been desperately clawing for third-string spots, Funk has spent his summer competing with Xavier Jones for No. 2 standing on the Los Angeles depth chart, behind presumed starter Darrell Henderson after Cam Akers suffered an Achilles tear in July. Inefficient in preseason loss
Funk rushed five times for 12 yards and brought in his only target for minus-5 yards in the Rams' 13-6 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday night.
Analysis: The rookie recently received praise from head coach Sean McVay for his work in training camp thus far, but he was unable to validate the accolades much Saturday with an inefficient performance. Funk should still have an inside track to a roster spot with Cam Akers' Achilles injury opening up a clearer path to such, and he'll look to acquit himself more impressively against the Raiders in next Saturday night's preseason clash.
