Analysis: Love has shown improvement over his last three games, avoiding any turnovers twice while also being a bigger threat passing downfield. In fact, Sunday saw Love set a career high in passing yards, with his final throw being a 24-yarder to Romeo Doubs for the game-winning touchdown. Coming off a positive Week 11 performance, Love now faces a quick turnaround ahead of a tough divisional game in Detroit on Thanksgiving.

Productive in defeat

Love completed 21 of 40 passes for 289 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 23-19 loss to the Steelers.

Analysis: Love barely completed half of his passes, yet he had a number of long completions downfield. After opening the game with an eight-yard touchdown to Romeo Doubs, he found Jayden Reed for a 35-yard score during the second quarter. To close the contest, though, Love was intercepted on consecutive drives while attempting throws into the end zone, tarnishing a performance that otherwise had some promising moments.

Solid in win

Love completed 20 of 26 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown and rushed four times for seven yards in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Rams.

Analysis: Love posted a season high in completion percentage while avoiding any turnovers for the first time since Week 2. Along with connecting better on passes further downfield, Love's well-designed, 20-yard touchdown to Luke Musgrave helped seal Green Bay's victory. Struggles continue in Week 8

The efficient outing bodes well for Love's confidence but does nothing to change his status as the backup behind Rodgers.

Love completed 16 of 26 passes for 148 yards and an interception in Thursday's preseason game against Kansas City. He also gained five yards on his only carry.

Analysis: The 23-year-old got the start at quarterback for the Packers and played into the second half, and while Love's numbers weren't great he did did engineer two scoring drives, leading to all 10 of Green Bay's points on the night. The 2020 first-round pick will back up Aaron Rodgers once again this season, a role which afforded him only one start and 62 total pass attempts last year.

Inconsistent preseason performance

Love completed 12 of 24 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints. He also added 13 rushing yards.

Analysis: Love got the start with Aaron Rodgers resting. He showed glimpses of promise, particularly on a 14-play drive that resulted in a touchdown. During that possession, Love connected with four different receivers and pushed the ball down the field for gains of 17 and 15 yards. On the other hand, he completed only 50.0 percent of his passes, though a few of the misfires were drops. Once the regular season rolls around, Love will naturally be locked into the backup role behind Aaron Rodgers.

Starting Friday

Love will start Friday's preseason contest against the Saints, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Analysis: With Aaron Rodgers in street clothes for a second straight exhibition, Love will get a chance to direct the offense. It'll be interesting to see if he logs a full half like he did last Friday in San Francisco, but whenever he departs, he'll hand things over to Danny Etling.
