Signs tender
Needham signed a one-year, $3.99 million contract with the Dolphins on Monday, Mike Masala of USA Today reports.
Analysis: The Dolphins placed a second-round tender on Needham, keeping him around for the 2022 campaign. He stands to once again contribute as a slot cornerback, while also taking some reps at safety and on special teams if necessary.

Receives second-round tender
The Dolphins placed a second-round tender on Needham as a restricted free agent Friday, Daniel Oyefusi the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The 2019 UDFA has seen significant playing time over his three years in Miami, so it's not a major surprise to see him garner a second-round tender. He totaled 59 tackles (48 solo), one sack, two interceptions and one touchdown in 17 games during 2021.

Leads team in tackles
Needham had eight tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 26-11 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Needham played 67 percent of the defensive snaps while operating as Miami's No. 3 cornerback, but he ended up leading the defense in tackles. The 2020 UDFA has a stable role in the Dolphins' secondary but doesn't offer any fantasy potential.

Officially inks tender
Needham inked his ERFA tender with the Dolphins on Monday, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports.
Analysis: Needham managed to earn a starting role as an undrafted rookie last season, despite only being promoted from the practice squad mid-November. Further additions to the cornerback room in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft likely will impede Needham's path to a similar role Year 2, but in any case he should get a chance to compete for a roster spot.

Solid rookie season
Needham notched 54 tackles (41 solo), one sack, 11 defended passes, two interceptions and one forced fumble across 12 games in 2019.
Analysis: Needman was promoted from Miami's practice squad in mid-October, when injuries to the secondary thrust him into the starting lineup. The UTEP product never gave back the reigns, and he ultimately concluded the 2019 campaign as a regular starter at cornerback. He's under contract for 2020, but it's worth noting that the Dolphins are a realistic contender to add to the secondary in the offseason.
