Leading tackler in win
Owens logged eight total tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Owens was thrust into a starting safety spot when Darnell Savage suffered a calf injury in Week 7, and he's been productive thus far. In the four games that Owens has started, he's recorded 28 total tackles, including one sack, while also forcing a fumble and breaking up one pass. The 28-year-old is likely nearing the end of starting on Green Bay's defense with Savage designated to return from injured reserve, but he might have earned more snaps going forward as a rotational defensive back with…read more

Eight tackles in defeat
Owens recorded eight tackles (seven solo) while deflecting a pass in Sunday's 23-19 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Owens had a second consecutive strong performance Sunday, reaching a season high in tackles. The safety has been thrust into a more substantial role with Darnell Savage (calf) unavailable, and he's now compiled 20 tackles, including a sack, while also forcing a fumble and deflecting a pass over the last three contests.

Leading tackler in win
Owens registered eight tackles (five solo), including a sack, and a forced fumble in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Owens was able to sack Brett Rypien for a 10-yard loss in the first quarter, resulting in a fumble recovered by the Packers that set up a three-yard rushing touchdown by Aaron Jones. Owens took over the starting free safety role after the Packers placed Darnell Savage (calf) on injured reserve on Oct. 25, and the former has played every single defensive snap over the past two contests. Owens will look to build off his momentum in Week 10 against the Steelers.

Set for expanded role
Owens is set to move into a starting role at safety after the Packers placed Darnell Savage (calf) on injured reserve Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Owens will now have an expanded role for at least the next four weeks until Savage is eligible to return. The 28-year-old will likely find himself playing on a near-every-down basis in the Green Bay secondary and could prove to be a useful IDP option. With the Texans last season, Owens appeared in all 17 games and tallied 125 tackles, good for second in the NFL among all non-linebackers.

Free agency awaits
Owens recorded eight tackles in a 32-31 win over Indianapolis in Week 18.
Analysis: Owens was second on the team with 125 tackles. It was the best of four seasons in Houston and puts the safety in a good position for becoming an unrestricted free agent in March.

Productive once again
Owens totaled 10 tackles (four solo) during the Texans' 23-10 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
Analysis: Owens led Houston in tackles during last week's loss to the Giants, and he tied for the team lead during the Texans' Week 11 defeat. The 27-year-old now has 90 tackles (62 solo), which ranks second among all safeties in the NFL.

Notches 12 tackles in Week 10
Owens totaled a game-high 12 tackles (10 solo) in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Owens notched his sixth double-digit tackling performance of the season. With opposing teams consistently gashing Houston's defense on the ground, opportunities to rack up tackles should remain plentiful for the 27-year-old safety moving forward.

Tallies 10 tackles in loss
Owens recorded 10 tackles in Thursday's 29-17 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Owens saw a season-low 18 snaps in Week 8 against the Titans but saw his role jump back to 49 snaps in Thursday's loss. He now has at least 10 tackles in five of his eight games this season and has a total of 68 stops to go along with two passes defended.

Team-high 10 tackles in loss
Owens recorded 10 tackles (nine solo) during Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Owens finished with a team-high 10 stops and notched his fourth double-digit tackle outing of the season, but it was his first 10-plus tackle performance since Week 3. Across six appearances, the fourth-year safety has recorded 56 stops and two pass defenses.

Another double-digit tackle game
Owens recorded 11 tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: Owens has recorded at least 10 tackles in his first three games this year, tying Roquan Smith for the NFL high with 36 stops. Owens already has twice as many tackles this season than he had in any of his previous three campaigns, so the undrafted safety out of Missouri Western is in uncharted territory but will look to maintain his stellar pace against the Chargers in Week 4.

Leads NFL in tackles
Owens recorded 10 tackles (six solo) during Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Before the 2022 season, Owens had appeared in 14 games across three years for the Texans and totaled just 18 tackles. However, the undrafted safety has made the most of his opportunity as a full-time starter this year by posting double-digit tackles in each of the first two games of the campaign, giving him an NFL-high 25 stops. He'll look to maintain his momentum against the Bears in Week 3.

Participating in offseason work
Owens (wrist) has been a full participant during the Texans' offseason work, Joel Lorenzi of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Owens suffered a dislocated wrist and ended last season on IR, but he's healthy and participating in offseason work. After bouncing back and forth between the practice squad and active roster last season, the undrafted safety out of Missouri Western has a chance to carve out a role in Houston's secondary during the 2022 campaign.

Suffers dislocated wrist Sunday
An initial diagnosis revealed Owens suffered a dislocated wrist during Sunday's loss to the 49ers, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Analysis: While the initial diagnosis revealed a dislocated wrist, Owens' MRI results will likely provide more clarity about his status moving forward. If he's unable to suit up for the last game of the season, A.J. Moore would presumably be in line for increased snaps against the Titans.

Will undergo MRI
Owens (wrist) is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Owens injured his wrist in the Texans' Week 17 loss to the 49ers. His MRI results figure to provide more clarity to his status going forward. A.J. Moore would presumably be in line for some extra snaps in the secondary should Owens ultimately be unable to play in Week 18.

Injures wrist Sunday
Owens is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers with a wrist injury.
Analysis: Owens has worked his way from the practice squad to special teams and briefly into a starting role in the Texans' secondary this season. A.J. Moore should see extra playing time while the Missouri Western product is out.

Starting role on tap
Owens is expected to make his first NFL start at safety in Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Analysis: Over his four games with Houston this season, Owens has played more snaps on special teams (64) than defense (34), but he'll likely be thrust into a full-time role in the secondary Sunday with three of the team's top four safeties -- Justin Reid (concussion), Terrence Brooks (reserve/COVID-19 list) and A.J. Moore (reserve/COVID-19 list) -- all sidelined. Owens will start alongside Eric Murray.
