Inking in Washington
The Commanders and Davis agreed to terms on a contract Monday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Davis provides Washington with an experienced cornerback to help replace the void left by Kendall Fuller, who recently inked a deal with the Dolphins. The 29-year-old is coming off a mixed 2023 campaign in which he was benched at multiple points and allowed a career-high 13.8 yards per completion and 9.0 yards per target, as Rhim notes. He could compete for starting snaps with Benjamin St-Juste, while 2023 first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes will likely get another crack at a No. 1 role.

Uneven performance again in 2023
Davis compiled 62 tackles (52 solo), 10 passes defensed and one interception in 17 games with the Chargers during the 2023 season.
Analysis: For a second consecutive season, Davis found himself benched at various points of the campaign, but he played well enough down the stretch to maintain his starting role by Week 18. The Chargers have little proven depth at corner beyond Asante Samuel, so the team could make retaining Davis -- a pending unrestricted free agent -- a priority this offseason. The 29-year-old has started games in each of the past four seasons, but he's often been the preferred corner for opposing teams to target and…read more

Logs another start, posts six stops
Davis tallied six tackles (five solo) in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: After working exclusively on special teams in Weeks 12 and 13, Davis has since started each of Los Angeles' past four contests. His six stops Sunday were fifth-most on the team and tied for his highest mark since he made eight tackles against Las Vegas in Week 4. Davis' performance Sunday pushed his season tackle total to 62, two shy of the career-best mark he set in 2020.

Produces during blowout loss
Davis recorded six tackles, including a tackle for a loss, and two passes defensed in the Chargers' 63-21 defeat to the Raiders on Thursday.
Analysis: The cornerback also played on 95 percent of the defensive snaps. Davis has 52 tackles, 10 passes defensed and an interception in 2023.

Solid performance in win
Davis recorded eight tackles (all solo) in Sunday's 24-17 win over Las Vegas.
Analysis: The 28-year-old was the second leading tackler for Los Angeles this past Sunday, trailing only Khalil Mack. He's now one tackle short of being the team's leader on the year, recording 25 tackles and three pass breakups through the first four weeks. Davis has been a solid corner in the Chargers' secondary that has struggled this year, giving up over 329 passing yards per game, ranking dead last in the NFL.

In action for OTAs
Davis participated in the first of the Chargers' 10 voluntary OTAs on Monday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Davis suffered a pectoral injury in the Chargers' wild-card loss to the Jaguars last season and was unable to return to the game. However, the cornerback appears to be fully recovered from the issue as he is participating in OTAs this week. As long as he remains healthy, Davis should have a significant role in the team's secondary for the 2023 campaign.

Suffers pectoral injury
Davis sustained a pectoral injury during Saturday's wild-card contest in Jacksonville.
Analysis: Davis took some friendly fire from Chargers linebacker Kenneth Murray on a tackle in the third quarter and remained on the turf for a spell before heading to the sideline. If he's unable to return, Ja'Sir Taylor will fill in for Davis at outside cornerback opposite Asante Samuel.

Ready to roll Sunday
Davis (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Analysis: Davis picked up an apparent knee injury during practice this week, but it ultimately isn't severe enough to sideline him for the Chargers' Week 12 matchup in Arizona. The 27-year-old should continue operating in his usual every-down cornerback role opposite of Asante Samuel.

Week 12 status up in the air
Davis (knee) is listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Davis picked up a knee injury while defending a pass during practice, leaving him limited during Thursday's and Friday's sessions, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. While the severity of the issue is still unclear, Chargers coach Brandon Staley said he still expects the cornerback to play in Sunday's game versus Arizona, per Popper. Davis has recorded 16 tackles and one pass defended after stepping into a starting role over the past three games, and his absence would likely leave…read more

Likely to take over starting role
Davis is expected to step in as one of the Chargers' starting cornerbacks in place of J.C. Jackson (kneecap) this season, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Davis has filled in when Jackson was previously sidelined this season, playing 100 percent of the Chargers' defensive snaps in two of the first three weeks, as well as 62 defensive snaps over the last two games. Now, with Jackson sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a ruptured patellar tendon, the 27-year-old Davis should step up into a full-time starting spot. The veteran also recorded 21 tackles and one pass defended over the Bolts' first seven contests, and he should see…read more

Trending toward starting
Davis appears to have overtaken Asante Samuel for the starting outside corner role opposite J.C. Jackson, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Davis struggled mightily in 2021, prompting the Chargers to sign the All-Pro Jackson in the offseason as well as premier slot corner Bryce Callahan. Coupled with the expected growth of second-year corner Asante Samuel, who thrived at times his rookie season, Davis figured to be the odd man out of a vastly improved cornerback room. The 27-year-old evidently took the challenge to heart, as the lanky corner appears to be running away with the other outside corner spot. More of a tackler than a…read more

Back from COVID list
Davis (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Davis tested positive for the virus Sunday but was able to clear the health and safety protocols over the past few days. He should return to his starting role at cornerback now that he's healthy.

Shifts to COVID list
Davis (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Davis is now officially on the COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus Sunday. The 26-year-old could still clear the protocols in time to play against the Broncos in Week 17.

Tests positive for COVID-19
Davis tested positive for COVID-19 prior to Sunday's loss to the Texans, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Davis was a late addition to the Week 16 injury report and was unable to play against Houston. If he continues to test positive early in the week, he could miss some practice time ahead of Week 17, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Sunday's game against Denver.

Questionable for Week 16
Davis (illness) is now listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans.
Analysis: It remains to be seen if the cornerback will be able to take the field Sunday after being a late addition to the injury report, but if he's unable to do so, the Chargers' already-depleted secondary will be further taxed, while Davontae Harris is a candidate to log added Week 16 snaps.

First Interception of season
Davis tallied two tackles (two solo) along with an interception in Sunday's 41-22 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Davis recorded his first interception of the season and his first since Week 14 of last year. The 26-year-old was able to help the Chargers bolt out to an early lead as he picked off Joe Burrow in the first quarter, an interception that eventually led to a Los Angeles touchdown drive. After missing a few games earlier in the season, it is good to see Davis get back on track.

Full go Thursday
Davis (hamstring) was a full participant at Thursday's practice.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was limited to open the week but upgraded to a full practice Thursday. After missing the team's Week 10 matchup with the Vikings, Davis will return to his prominent role in the Chargers' secondary.

Will not play Sunday
Davis (hamstring) is inactive Sunday against the Vikings.
Analysis: Davis was unable to practice all week, so this is not surprising news. In his place, Asante Samuel and Tevaughn Campbell will be in line for an increased workload.

Draws doubtful designation
The Chargers have deemed Davis (hamstring) doubtful ahead of Sunday's clash against the Vikings.
Analysis: Davis was a non-participant at practice all week, so his chance of suiting up is certainly looking slim. Should he indeed get ruled out, Tevaughn Campbell and Asante Samuel would be prime candidates to fill in for his snaps.

Won't play Sunday
Davis (hamstring) will not play Sunday against the Eagles.
Analysis: Davis left the Chargers' Week 8 contest against the Patriots early and was unable to log a practice this week. With Asante Samuel (concussion) also set to miss, expect Tevaughn Campbell and Ryan Smith to step into bigger roles in the Chargers secondary.

Downgraded to out
Davis (hamstring) has been downgraded to out and won't return Sunday against New England.
Analysis: Davis left Sunday's game early and wasn't able to recover in time to return, so the Chargers will have their depth tested in terms of the secondary. Expect Tevaughn Campbell to handle most of the Davis' snaps opposite to Chris Harris.

Leaves early Sunday
Davis is questionable to return to Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, Joe Reedy of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Davis had taken on a depth role since Chris Harris had returned to the lineup. Tevaughn Campbell will likely see extra playing time until the 26-year-old can return.

Sticking with Chargers
Davis agreed Monday to a three-year extension with the Chargers, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Davis is coming off his best season yet, having notched career-high marks in terms of tackles (64), pass breakups (14) and interceptions (three) in 2020. He'll again operate as a key piece of Los Angeles' cornerback group next season.

Sets career-high marks
Davis recorded four tackles in the Chargers' Week 17 win over the Chiefs. The cornerback finished the season with 64 tackles, three interceptions, 14 passes defended and one touchdown.
Analysis: Teams often targeted Davis' side of the field as opposed to that of multi-time Pro Bowler Casey Hayward, but the fourth-year corner responded well, setting a career high in interceptions and tackles as well as recording his first career touchdown. The 26-year-old will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent after starting for the Chargers each of the past three seasons, but it remains to be seen if the team will give the corner a new deal with the cap expected to be significantly…read more

First touchdown and interception
Davis piled together six tackles and scored his first touchdown in this Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Davis snagged his first pick of the season after he jumped a lackadaisical throw from Tom Brady, returning it 78 yards for his first touchdown of his career. The fourth-year pro has slotted in nicely as the corner opposite Pro Bowler Casey Hayward, playing 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps and amassing six tackles in three straight games. Sunday was only the third career INT for Davis so it's unlikely he'll generate many points from a turnover perspective for IDP managers, but with…read more

Inks RFA tender
Davis signed his contract tender with the Chargers on Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Davis will earn a $3.3 million salary for the 2020 season as a result of being extended a second-round tender by Los Angeles. He became an unlikely starter for the Chargers in 2019 after going undrafted out of BYU, and he'll be in the mix for the team's No. 2 corner role again for the 2020 campaign.

Given tender by Chargers
The Chargers are giving Davis a second-round tender.
Analysis: The undrafted rookie out of BYU became a surprise starter for the Chargers in 2019, logging 39 tackles (31 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended over 12 games. Assuming no other club is willing to part with that kind of draft capital to sign him, he'll likely operate as one of the Bolts' starting cornerbacks in 2020.

Uneven play throughout season
Davis posted 39 tackles (31 solo), two interceptions and nine passes defended across 12 games during the 2019 season.
Analysis: Davis missed two games near the start of the season due to injury, and then another two later in the year after violating the league's substance abuse policy, disrupting what was expected to be a third-year breakout of sorts for the 25-year-old. A restricted free agent this offseason, Davis is expected to be retained by the Chargers, although it's possible the team could add a more reliable No. 2 corner opposite Casey Hayward.

Back to 53-man roster
Davis (suspension) had his roster exemption lifted Wednesday and is back on the 53-man roster, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old will reclaim his starting role at cornerback after the two-game ban. Brandon Facyson filled in well during Davis' absence and will still receive some opportunities, according to coach Anthony Lynn.

Suspension lifted
Davis had his suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy lifted Monday after sitting out the past two weeks, Eric Williams of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Chargers received a roster exemption for Davis, meaning they will be able to delay his activation to the 53-man roster and the corresponding move until later this week. With Davis back in the fold, Brandon Facyson should return to a depth role in the defensive backfield.

Receives two-game ban
Davis was handed a two-game suspension Friday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old started and played every defensive snap over the last eight games, so his absence leaves a sizable hole to fill for the Chargers. Brandon Facyson should see increased work until Davis can return Week 15.
