Time up in Carolina
The Panthers released Fox on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Fox started nine contests (17 appearances) in 2021, in which span he accrued a career-high 34 tackles (16 solo), in addition to 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Now, the 27-year-old defensive end will look to earn a new contract on the open market.

Continues to impress
Fox made three tackles (two solo) and registered half a sack in Thursday night's 24-9 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Fox has drawn rave reviews in his first season with the Panthers after spending five years with the Rams. His disruptive play up front has contributed to Carolina's ascent defensively to begin the campaign, and he's been rewarded with half a sack in consecutive contests. While Brian Burns and Haason Reddick are flashier pass rushers, Fox's impact has really helped the unit as well.

Heads to Carolina
Fox agreed Wednesday with the Panthers on a two-year, $8.5 million contract, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Panthers are bolstering their pass rush on the first day of the new year, having already signed Haason Reddick just hours before bringing Fox aboard. Fox played a career-high 403 defensive snaps for the Rams in 2020, recording personal bests in tackles (27), sacks (six) and pass breakups (two).

Career-high sack totals
Fox recorded 27 tackles (21 solo), six sacks and two pass breakups across 16 games in 2020.
Analysis: Fox also had one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. The 26-year-old notched career-high marks across the board in 2020, but given his rotational role it still wasn't enough to earn him much fantasy relevance in IDP formats. He's on track to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Records sack in second straight
Fox recorded four solo tackles, a sack and forced a fumble during Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants.
Analysis: This is the second consecutive game Fox has collected a sack, and it was also by far his best fantasy showing of the campaign. However, he only played 27 of 68 defensive snaps and has only topped that mark once this season (29 in Week 2). His limited playing time hinders his upside, but it's clear that keeping Fox on a pitch count has enabled him to make an impact when he's on the field.

Staying with Rams
Fox has re-signed with the Rams on a one-year deal, NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Fox has been with the Rams since his rookie year in 2016. He suited up for all 16 games in 2019 and recorded 18 tackles (12) solo and two sacks in the process. He again projects as a depth defensive end for the team.
