Lands on IR
Swaim (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Swaim didn't play Week 12 due to a concussion and wasn't able to practice this week. The issue has resulted in his placement on IR, and he isn't eligible to return until Week 17. The Browns signed Blake Whiteheart to their active roster off their practice squad Saturday to take over as the team's No. 3 tight end in Swaim's stead.

Misses practice Friday
Swaim (concussion) didn't practice Friday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Swaim has missed both of Cleveland's first two practices this week as he remains in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. The veteran tight end has had a minimal role in the Browns offense this season, logging just one catch for seven yards over eight games.

DNP on Thursday
Swaim (concussion) was listed as a DNP on Thursday's injury report, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Swaim was sidelined for the Browns' Week 12 win over the Steelers due to a concussion. The veteran tight end will need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to play against the Broncos on Monday. A return to practice Friday and Saturday -- even in a limited capacity -- would indicate that Swaim is progressing through concussion protocols.

Out for Week 12 with concussion
Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Swaim has entered concussion protocol and won't play Thursday against the Steelers, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim presumably suffered the concussion at some point during the Browns' 35-14 loss to the Saints on Sunday, when he went without a target across nine snaps on offense in addition to playing 13 snaps on special teams. With the Browns facing a quick turnaround for their Week 12 game, it's no surprise that Swaim is already being ruled out from clearing the five-step protocol in time to suit up versus Pittsburgh.

Sees first target in win
Swaim caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 29-24 win over Baltimore in Week 8.
Analysis: The target was Swaim's first in six games with the Browns. The 31-year-old has worked his way from the practice squad onto the active roster and out-snapped Jordan Akins for a fourth consecutive game. Neither backup can expect much of a workload while David Njoku is healthy.

Signed to active roster
The Browns signed Swaim to the active roster from the practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Swaim had been elevated for Cleveland's past three contests, so the Browns had to sign the veteran tight end to the 53-man roster in order for him to be available for Sunday's road matchup against the Eagles. In those three games Swaim has played 10, 24 and 20 offensive snaps, respectively, but he's yet to earn his first target of the season.

Back to practice squad
Swaim reverted to the Browns' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Swaim played 21 offensive snaps in Week 5 against Washington, failing to garner a target in the team's 34-13 loss. The tight end will need to be signed to the active roster in order to appear in another game with Cleveland this season.

Elevated for third time
The Browns elevated Swaim from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Swaim will be elevated for a third straight week to provide depth at tight end in case David Njoku (ankle) is unable to play Sunday against the Commanders. This is the last time Cleveland can call Swaim up from the practice squad, and even if he's inactive for Sunday's contest, he would need to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up for the Browns moving forward.

Reverts to practice squad
Swaim reverted to Cleveland's practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Swaim saw playing time on both offense and special teams during Sunday's loss to the Raiders but failed to record any stats. He could be elevated again in Week 5 versus the Commanders if David Njoku remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

The Browns elevated Swaim to their active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Swain is joining the Browns' active roster for the second consecutive game after playing 18 total snaps (10 offensive and eight on special teams) during Cleveland's Week 3 loss to the Giants. He's expected to serve as a depth piece in the Browns' tight end room while also contributing on special teams in Week 4.

Analysis: The tight end was elevated to the active roster Saturday with starter David Njoku nursing an ankle injury. Elevated from practice squad
The Browns elevated Swaim from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim wasn't able to catch on with a team during the offseason or training camp while recovering from a calf injury he sustained last December. He signed with the Browns' practice squad Sept. 10, and he'll be elevated for Week 3 against the Giants due to David Njoku (ankle) being ruled out. If active, Swaim will serve as the Browns' No. 3 tight end Sunday behind Jordan Akins and Blake Whiteheart.

Playing time dwindles further
Swaim recorded one reception on one target for four yards in Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Swaim played a season-low 20 snaps while continuing to give way to both Austin Hooper and Chigoziem Okonkwo. His lone catch of the game came midway through the third quarter and was not impactful. Even if Swaim sees his playing time tick back up, his primary role will almost certainly be as a blocker.

Being phased out of passing attack
Swaim failed to corral his lone target while playing 31 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Bengals.
Analysis: With rookie Chigoziem Okonkwo and top tight end Austin Hooper having both taken on heightened roles in the Tennessee passing attack of late, Swaim has functioned mainly as a blocker in recent weeks. After drawing seven targets across the Titans' first three games of the season, Swaim has been targeted a combined five times in Tennessee's subsequent eight contests. The lack of involvement isn't the result of any major downturn in playing time, either; Swaim has logged snap shares above 50…read more

Targeted once in win
Swaim failed to record a catch on his only target in Sunday's 17-10 win over Denver.
Analysis: Swaim saw his snap rate dip to 53 percent, his lowest mark since Week 2. He failed to record a catch for the fourth straight game, and even if his role rebounds, he will remain the Titans' blocking tight end.

Not targeted in loss
Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: As is typically the case, Swaim led the Titans' tight ends in snaps. However, his role is limited almost exclusively to blocking, as he has only reception combined across his last five games.

Not targeted in victory
Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Swaim continued his quiet season, though that was hardly a surprise given that Malik Willis attempted only 10 passes on the day. Swaim now has zero catches in four of seven games for the campaign while serving primarily as a blocker for Tennessee.

Commands only one target
Swaim recorded no catches on one target in Sunday's 19-10 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Swaim maintained his typical role on offense, as he was on the field for 35 snaps -- good for a 61 percent rate. However, he also served primarily as a blocker and has now seen one or fewer targets in four of six games this season. Swaim has a total of seven receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown on the campaign.

Records one reception
Swaim recorded one catch on one target for five yards in Sunday's 21-17 win over the Commanders.
Analysis: As has typically been the case, Swaim led the Titans' tight-end corps in snaps. Not targeted in win
Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Swaim played 40 offensive snaps, which led the Titans' tight end corps. However, he failed to command a target, which isn't all that surprising given his primary duties are as a blocker. Through four games this season, Swaim has six receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Analysis: Swaim led the Titans' tight ends in snaps, receptions and yards. Catches three passes in Week 1

After the game, coach Mike Vrabel said Swaim earned his large role on offense due to the fact that "he's the best blocking tight end we have," per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site. Staying with Titans
The Titans have agreed to a one-year deal with Swaim, John Glennon of SI.com reports.
Analysis: The 28-year-old is coming off a 2021 season in which he recorded 31 catches (on 40 targets) for 210 yards and three TDs in 16 games. Swaim's fantasy upside this coming season hinges on what other moves the Titans make at tight end this offseason, given that Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt are both eligible for free agency.

Ends season quietly
Swaim recorded one reception on one target for two yards in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Swaim continued to make minimal impact on the Titans' offense, as he failed to surpass 10 receiving yards for the fourth consecutive game. While he recorded at least three receptions in seven of his 16 contests, he still managed only 210 yards on 31 catches for the campaign. Scores short touchdown
Swaim recorded three receptions on three targets for nine yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-3 win over Miami.
Analysis: Swaim recorded three catches for the third time in his last four games. Despite that decent volume, he's surpassed 10 yards only once in that span. Swaim did manage to salvage his performance on Sunday with a one-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the victory. Even so, it was only his third touchdown catch of the season heading into a Week 18 matchup at Houston.

Tallies three catches
Swaim recorded three receptions on three targets for 10 yards in Thursday's 20-17 win over San Francisco.
Analysis: Swaim continued to occupy the top tight end role in Tennessee, and he was on the field for 63 percent of offensive snaps. He also finished tied for second on the team with three targets, though that turned into very little production as he was limited to only short areas of the field. Swaim has recorded at least three receptions in five of his last seven games, though he has managed to top 30 receiving yards only once in that span.

Swaim recorded one catch on two targets for five yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Swaim led Tennessee's tight ends with 59 (74 percent) offensive snaps. However, he wasn't utilized heavily in the passing game and had to split targets with both Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt. Swaim has been limited to only one catch in three of his last four games.

Racks up 45 yards
Swaim recorded three receptions on four targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 20-0 win over Jacksonville.
Analysis: Swaim finished third on the team with only four targets, but he managed to lead all Titans receivers in yardage. He also logged the team's longest gain of the day -- a 24-yard reception partway through the third quarter -- that helped him top 30 receiving yards for the first time this season. Despite a relatively consistent role in Tennessee's offense across his last five games, Swaim is dependent on touchdowns to rack up viable fantasy production.

One catch in return
Swaim recorded one reception on one target for eight yards in Sunday's 36-13 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Swaim returned from a one-game absence caused by a concussion. He was on the field for 73 percent of the team's offensive snaps but still only saw one target. Prior to missing the team's Week 11 contest, Swaim had recorded four receptions in three consecutive contests, so he could see an uptick in targets when the team retakes the field in Week 14 against Jacksonville.

Swaim (concussion) is listed as active Week 12 against New England.
Analysis: Swaim returned as a full participant in practice Friday, setting the stage for him to gain clearance in Week 12. The tight end hasn't typically been a major part of the Tennessee game plan this season, though Swaim has hauled in exactly four receptions in each of the past three weeks with the receiving corps badly shorthanded. Questionable after full practice
Swaim (concussion) was a full practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in New England, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim was a full participant Wednesday and Friday, sandwiched around non-participation Thursday. That's unusual, but not necessarily bad, and he'll now need clearance from a team physician and independent neurological consultant in order to play this Sunday. The Titans can use all the help they can get with their WR group devastated by injuries, and Swaim should see plenty of snaps and at least a few targets if he avoids the inactive list.

Questionable for Week 12
Swaim (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against New England.
Analysis: If active this weekend, Swain would likely lead Tennessee's tight ends in playing time, but should he sit, MyCole Pruitt and Anthony Firkser would continue to see extra snaps, with the latter considered the more prolific pass-catcher.

Swaim (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's injury report, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim fully participated in Wednesday's practice but took a step back Thursday. Analysis: Swaim missed this past Sunday's game against the Texans, but barring any setbacks in his recovery from the head injury, he's in line to return to action this weekend against the Patriots. Ruled out for Week 11
Swaim (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim was added to the Titans' injury report Thursday with the head injury, an indication that he likely was diagnosed with the concussion following Wednesday's practice. Tennessee evidently determined he hadn't made enough progress through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol to suit up Sunday, so he'll be sidelined for the first time all season Week 11. Sits out practice with concussion
Swaim (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, John Glennon of Sports Illustrated reports.
Analysis: Swaim wasn't listed on the Titans' initial Week 11 injury report, so he likely suffered the concussion in Wednesday's practice. Friday's injury designation will help determine Swaim's chances of suiting up Sunday against the Texans, but his absence Thursday suggests he's in jeopardy of sitting out. Touchdown streak ends
Swaim recorded four receptions on five targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 23-21 win over the Saints.
Analysis: Swaim continued to serve as the team's top pass-catching tight end and recorded at least four catches for the third consecutive game. He worked primarily in the short areas of the field, but he did manage one catch that went for a 16-yard gain. While Swaim's two-game touchdown streak ended with this performance, he has earned a consistent role in the Titans' passing attack.

Scores again in win
Swaim caught all four targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-16 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Swaim turned in another solid fantasy performance, hitting pay dirt for the second consecutive game. The veteran tight end had just 53 total yards and no touchdowns over the seven contests prior to his recent hot streak despite seeing relatively the same playing time. That said, the Titans are going to be without Derrick Henry (foot) for the foreseeable future, and he pretty much hoarded all of the the Titans' goal-line touches, so perhaps Swaim has carved out a niche as a red-zone threat.

First TD of season
Swaim had four receptions (five targets) for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Ryan Tannehill dialed up his tight end near the goal line on a play-action pass for the veteran's first touchdown of the season. Swaim has been logging starter's snaps on offense, but this was just his eighth reception on the year. The 27-year-old's value lies in his ability to block in front of Derrick Henry, so fantasy managers can dismiss this rare trip to the end zone.

Analysis: Swaim thus is in line to be available for Sunday's season opener against the Cardinals. In 10 games with the Titans last year, he logged nine catches on 12 targets for 83 yards and a TD. Analysis: Swaim will need to fully clear the league's COVID-19 protocols before returning to team facilities. Tops tight end depth chart
Swaim is the No. 1 tight end on the Titans' first official depth chart of the season, Claire Kuwana of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Anthony Firkser was presumed to be the player who would primarily fill in for the loss of Jonnu Smith. However, in a surprise move Swaim was listed ahead of Firkser in the first version of the depth chart. However, that doesn't necessarily mean Swaim will have a large role as a receiver, as that listing could reflect his usage as a blocker for Derrick Henry. Across 10 games and 353 offensive snaps with the Titans last season, Swaim saw only 12 targets.

Stays with Tennessee
Swaim is staying with the Titans on a one-year contract, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Analysis: The new league year hasn't even started and the Titans have already lost TE Jonnu Smith and WRs Corey Davis and Adam Humphries. Retaining Swaim won't change much for the passing offense, but it does give the team a competent blocker alongside passing-down specialist Anthony Firkser. The 27-year-old Swaim has 57 catches in 53 NFL appearances, including just nine in 10 games for the Titans last season.

Finds role with Titans
Swaim recorded nine receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown across nine games with the Titans in the 2020 regular season.
Analysis: Swaim signed with the Titans in mid-August, though he wasn't active on gameday until Week 6. He played a relatively large role thereafter, logging over a 50 percent snap rate in six of his nine contests. That didn't translate to much production in the box score, though he did serve as a solid run blocker to clear the way for Derrick Henry. Swaim will hit unrestricted free agency at the conclusion of the Titans' postseason run.

Returns to full practice
Swaim (ankle) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Swaim missed last week's game with an ankle injury, but he appears to have regained health ahead of Sunday's prime time trip to Green Bay. The backup tight end turned in his best performance of the season with 34 yards and a touchdown last time he took the field, and he'll look to build on that effort in what's expected to be a high-scoring affair against the Packers.

Out for divisional tilt
Swaim (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Lions.
Analysis: Swain is coming off his best game of the year, as he posted a 3-34-1 line over 32 snaps against the Jaguars in Week 14. However, the sixth-year tight end couldn't shake the ankle injury he suffered in the process. In turn, Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt should both see additional playing time behind Jonnu Smith.

Listed as questionable
Swaim (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.
Analysis: Swaim had his best game of the season against Jacksonville last weekend, with three catches for 34 yards and a score, but he may not be available against Detroit on Sunday. With Jonnu Smith fully healthy, Swaim will be in line for No. 2 duties if active.

Doesn't practice after big game
Swaim (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Swaim scored his first touchdown of the season and the second of his six-year career in last week's win over Jacksonville, but it's possible the tight end also picked up an ankle injury later in the contest. He'll hope to raise his practice participation level as the week unfolds ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Lions.

Hauls in touchdown
Swaim recorded three receptions on three targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Swaim was the most involved Titans tight end in terms of targets and yardage, though he was out-snapped by both MyCole Pruitt and Jonnu Smith. His biggest contribution came on a five-yard touchdown catch early in the third quarter. This was Swaim's most productive performance of the season, making it difficult to trust him moving forward to any matchups to close out the campaign.

Records three catches
Swaim secured all three targets for 30 yards in Week 12 against the Colts.
Analysis: Swaim was the Titans' most productive tight end and was on the field for a season-high 64 percent of offensive snaps. He served as a blocker for the majority of his time on the field, however, as the Titans attempted only seven passes in the second half. Swaim has increasingly gained a role in the offense of late, though that has resulted in only four receptions for 39 yards across three contests.

Catches lone target
Swaim caught his only target for nine yards during Sunday's win over the Ravens.
Analysis: The 27-year-old played 63 percent of the offensive snaps Sunday but was minimally involved in the passing game. Swaim has been seeing more playing time than Anthony Firkser but Firkser is garnering significantly more looks behind No. 1 tight end Jonnu Smith.

Sees increase in role
Swaim recorded two receptions on three targets for 10 yards in Week 6 against the Texans.
Analysis: Swaim saw an increased role with the early exit of Jonnu Smith (ankle). He was on the field for 49 offensive snaps, good for a 65 percent rate of the team's offensive plays. With MyCole Pruitt (COVID-19) currently unable to suit up, Swaim could be the Titans second tight end if Smith's ankle prevents him from returning to action for a Week 7 matchup against the Steelers.

Inactive for Week 1
Swaim (coach's decision) is not active for the team's Week 1 contest against the Broncos, John Glennon of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Swaim signed with Tennessee partway through training camp and made the roster as a depth tight end. However, he'll be inactive for the team's opening contest of the season.

Joins Tennessee
Swaim agreed to a contract with the Titans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old was let go by the Jaguars this offseason, and after numerous tryouts around the league, he finally landed a deal in Tennessee. He posted 13 receptions for 65 yards in six games with Jacksonville in 2019 before his season ended in October, when he was placed on injured reserve.

Will try out with Texans
Swaim (concussion/ankle) is set to have a tryout and physical with the Texans on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Swaim was placed on IR by the Jaguars last October due to a concussion and ankle injury. There has yet to be an update on his status, so his upcoming physical will bring more clarity to his current health.

Let go by Jaguars
The Jaguars will release Swaim (concussion/ankle), Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Swaim logged 13 catches for 65 yards in six games during his lone season with Jacksonville in 2019 before being placed on IR in October. The 2015 seventh-rounder, who started his career with the Cowboys, will now look to catch on elsewhere, but he'd need to land in an ideal situation in order to carve out any sort of high-volume passing role.

Quiet first season in Jacksonville
Swaim (concussion/ankle) recorded 13 catches for 65 yards in six games before being placed on injured reserve in October.
Analysis: The 26-year-old signed a two-year, $6.6 million contract with the Jaguars in the spring, but he barely played more than 50 percent of the offensive snaps before being shut down for good. Jacksonville could save over $3.7 million in cap space by releasing Swaim, so he's certainly not guaranteed to be back in 2020 despite currently being under contract.
