Inks deal with Raiders
Harmon signed with the Raiders on Thursday.
Analysis: Harmon spent the 2021 season with Atlanta, and he topped 1,000 defensive snaps for the second consecutive campaign. He's been effective at creating turnovers throughout his career, as he's posted 21 interceptions since entering the league in 2013. Harmon currently projects to play behind Johnathan Abram (shoulder) at strong safety, though his exact role should become more clear throughout training camp.

First interception of season
Harmon recorded two total tackles (two solo) while also intercepting one pass in the 21-14 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
Analysis: Harmon intercepted his first pass of the season as he picked off Trevor Lawrence in the second quarter of Sunday's contest, recording his first interception since Week 5 of last season. Harmon and the Falcons defense get a much tougher matchup next Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Heading to Atlanta
Harmon signed a contract with the Falcons on Thursday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Though he spent seven seasons with the Patriots, Harmon's 2020 campaign in Detroit was his first as a full-time starter, tallying 73 tackles and two interceptions over 16 games. The 30-year-old will aim to have another starting safety gig in Atlanta for the 2021 season.

Posts 73 tackles
Harmon racked up 73 tackles, five pass breakups and two interceptions over 16 games in 2020.
Analysis: Harmon again made it through a full 16 games for the seventh straight season, but this year was his first as a full-time starter, with him seeing at least 92 percent of the defensive snaps in every game. While the ex-Patriots only reached at least six tackles twice -- compared to five times for teammate Tracy Walker over just 10 fully healthy games -- Harmon's consistent presence was invaluable for a Lions defense that was ravaged by injuries and went on to record franchise-worst marks in…read more

Eyeing starting gig with Lions
Harmon said Friday that he hopes to play over 90 percent of defensive snaps in Detroit, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Harmon spent the first seven years of his career serving as a rotational safety in New England, serving as the team's No. 3 option in recent seasons. The 29-year-old will now reunite with coach Matt Patricia in Detroit, where he stands to spend the summer competing for a starting safety gig opposite Tracy Walker. It remains likely, of course, that the Lions will bring in additional competition as the offseason continues.

Dealt to Lions
The Patriots traded Harmon to the Lions on Wednesday in a deal that also involves a swap of late-round picks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Per Ben Volin of The Boston Globe, the move clears up about $3.5 million in cap space for the Patriots, while simultaneously bolstering the Lions' depth at safety. Harmon, who New England selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, recorded 22 tackles and two picks during the 2019 season.
