Misses only attempt from 45 yards out
Prater missed his only field-goal attempt and made his only PAT during Sunday's 20-7 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Prater sailed his one and only attempt from 45 yards wide right and he wasn't afforded a second field-goal chance at any point in the second half. Newly-installed quarterback David Blough simply had a much tougher time moving the ball this week against the Vikings compared to Thanksgiving Day against the Bears. There's at least a chance for a nice rebound in Week 15 if Blough can move the ball against Tampa Bay's 31st-ranked secondary.

Two more field goals
Prater made both of his field-goal attempts and both of his PATs during Thursday's 24-20 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: While Prater's stat line was aided by the fact that the Lions' offense stalled twice from within the 10-yard line, he's now attempted at least two field goals in eight of 12 games this year. He also afforded the Lions an extra possession by way of a successful onside kick during the first quarter. Given the relative success that quarterback David Blough had Thursday -- combined with Minnesota's declining defense -- Prater might be worthy of a spot in starting lineups during Detroit's Week 14…read more

Three-makes in D.C.
Prater made three of four field-goal attempts as well as his only PAT during Sunday's 19-16 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Prater was good from 21, 24 and 49 yards out, but the veteran went wide right from 39 yards on a windy day in Washington. It's unfortunate that miss wound up being the difference in the game, but Prater at least made history by passing Errol Mann for the fourth-most points in Lions history. Prater could have another busy day in Week 13 against the Bears if quarterback Jeff Driskel doesn't have too much trouble getting Detroit into scoring position.

No field-goal attempts
Prater did not attempt a field goal but converted all three PATs during Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: We knew coming into this that Prater may not get many opportunities to produce, but it wasn't because we thought Jeff Driskel would get the team into the end zone four times. It's actually a great sign for Prater's future outlook that Driskel was able to move the ball on a not-terrible Cowboys defense. While the tune may change when the Lions have to play tough Chicago and Minnesota teams in coming weeks, it's possible Driskel could allow Prater to have a respectable outing in the meantime when…read more

Converts another 50-yarder
Prater made both of his field-goal attempts as well as his only PAT during Sunday's 20-13 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Another 50-yard field goal salvaged Prater's fantasy output on a day quarterback Matthew Stafford (back) was surprisingly not able to play. However, the general ineptitude of replacement starter Jeff Driskel could continue to limit the Lions' scoring chances, so it may be wise to avoid Prater in Week 11 on the road against the Cowboys should Stafford again be ruled out.

Only given one field-goal attempt
Prater converted his lone field-goal attempt and all three PATs during Sunday's 31-24 loss to Oakland.
Analysis: Prater is now one of three active kickers to have converted at least 15 field goals in 12 consecutive seasons, which is obviously a testament to how long the 35-year-old has been a quality fantasy option. Sunday could have been a bigger day if the Lions hadn't had to go for it on fourth down with three seconds to play, though it's nonetheless disappointing Prater wasn't given more chances to produce in this relatively soft matchup. Make sure the weather isn't a factor, but it's possible he…read more

Makes one of two from 50-plus
Prater converted one of two field-goal attempts and all four PATs during Sunday's 31-26 victory over the Giants.
Analysis: Both of his field-goal attempts came from beyond 50 yards and Prater only managed to knock one of them through the uprights. Considering that was only his second miss of the season and he's been perfect from within 40 yards, Prater remains an appealing fantasy play in Week 9 against a Raiders defense that's giving up the fifth-most points per game (27.4) in 2019.

Limited opportunities against Vikings
Prater converted his only field-goal attempt as well as all three PATs during Sunday's 42-30 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: After a huge performance Monday night in Green Bay, Prater didn't have nearly as many opportunities to kick field goals against a Vikings team that wasn't as stout in the red zone as the Packers were. It didn't help that Prater had a 50-plus yard attempt taken away from him at one point after a successful Vikings challenge and a subsequent Lions false start penalty knocked Detroit out of field-goal range. Given his upside as a fantasy option, Prater should be worth another roll of the dice when…read more

Huge night in Green Bay
Prater converted all five field-goal attempts and his only PAT during Monday's 23-22 loss to Green Bay.
Analysis: While the Lions presumably wish they didn't have to settle for five field goals in a game that was ultimately decided by a single point, Prater was absolute money in this one. Two of the field goals he drilled were from beyond 50 yards and he had another from beyond 40. Detroit could need Prater's excellence to shine through again in Week 7 should the offense be unable to improve its red-zone efficiency against a tough Vikings defense.

Perfect against Chiefs
Prater converted all three field-goal attempts and all three PATs during Sunday's 34-30 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: After missing three kicks in the past two weeks, Prater rebounded in impressive fashion and ultimately connected on attempts from 25, 48 and 53 yards out. The storied veteran is now 48-for-63 on field-goal attempts 50 yards or longer, and his career 76.2 conversion rate on kicks of that distance only trails Robbie Gould's NFL-record 76.3 percent. Prater will continue to be a considerable fantasy option in Week 6 against the Packers after the Lions return from their Week 5 bye.

Has kick blocked
Prater made two of his three field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Prater converted from 25 and 33 yards on his two makes, which both came during the second quarter. Although he later had a 46-yarder blocked with under two minutes remaining in the game, Detroit's defense stood tall to preserve the Lions' victory. Through three games, Prater sports 19 points, but has now missed three kicks in his last two outings.

Performance to forget
Prater missed his only field-goal attempt and one of two PATs during Sunday's 13-10 victory over the Chargers.
Analysis: Prater nearly cost Detroit the game with a pair of costly miscues. The first was a missed PAT on the Lions' opening score and the second was a 40-yard field-goal attempt that sailed wide right. However, Prater only missed one other PAT over the past two seasons and has finished in the top half of the league in accuracy each of the past four seasons, so there's plenty of optimism for him to have a rebound performance in Week 3 against the Eagles.

Perfect in season opener
Prater made both field-goal attempts and all three extra-point attempts in Sunday's 27-27 tie at Arizona.
Analysis: Prater drilled a 55-yard field goal to start the scoring in the second quarter but didn't have a second chance at a field goal until overtime. The 35-year-old has been one of the more reliable long-range kickers in the league over the last few years, and that seems unlikely to change in 2019.

Drills 61-yard kick
Prater converted both of his field-goal attempts and his only PAT during Friday's preseason loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Prater boomed a 61-yard kick with time expiring in the second quarter, a kick from a length that hasn't been seen in preseason history since 1999. Few kickers around the league have the trust to take attempts from such a distance.

No competition for starting role
Prater's job appears safe in advance of the 2019 season, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: The 12-year veteran is entering his sixth season with the Lions and hasn't missed a game in four years. While Prater's career field-goal conversion rate of 83.8 percent is only 17th among active kickers, it also ranks 24th in NFL history. However, counting only his time in Detroit, Prater's rank jumps to seventh and eighth, respectively, on the back of an 86.3 percent conversion rate. Truly one of the most accomplished kickers in the NFL, Prater isn't being presented with any outside…read more

Flaunts passing ability
Prater converted his only field-goal attempt and lone PAT during Sunday's victory over Green Bay. He also completed his only pass attempt for an eight-yard touchdown.
Analysis: The record holder for the NFL's longest field goal showed his athleticism isn't contained to his kicking abilities, as Prater dropped a perfect touchdown in the back of the end zone to tight end Levine Toilolo on a faked field goal in the second quarter. Also perfect on his kicking opportunities, Prater had quite the day in the Lions' 2018 season finale. He'll now close the season having made 28 of 32 field-goal attempts -- including a perfect 20-for-20 from inside 40 yards -- as well as all 27…read more

Perfect against Vikings
Prater went three-for-three on his field-goal attempts during Sunday's 27-9 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Prater somehow had a serviceable fantasy outing despite the Lions' significant struggles moving the ball against Minnesota's fourth-ranked defense. Having converted multiple field goals in just four of his last nine outings, the strong-legged Prater appears to be a low-floor, high-ceiling fantasy option at this juncture in the season as Detroit approaches its Week 17 season finale in Green Bay.

Misses fourth-quarter field goal
Prater missed his only field-goal attempt but made his only PAT during Sunday's 14-13 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Prater made a critical miscue on a missed 48-yard field goal attempt that would've given the Lions the lead in the final frame -- which marked the veteran's first missed field goal in the fourth quarter over the past three seasons. Given the Lions' massive offensive struggles in the absence of Marvin Jones (knee), Kerryon Johnson (knee) and Golden Tate (traded), it isn't wise to bet on Prater getting many opportunities to rebound during Detroit's tough Week 16 matchup against the Vikings.

Makes 47-yarder in Arizona
Prater made his only field-goal attempt and both of his PATs during Sunday's 17-3 victory over Arizona.
Analysis: The Lions easily won the defensive battle Sunday, but only marginally won the offensive battle while playing in an offense devoid of difference makers outside of receiver Kenny Golladay. In fact, Detroit's pick-six late in the third quarter was the only reason the Lions won by two scores. These struggles only allowed Prater one chance at a field goal, and it could be hard for the offense to afford the kicker more tries in a tougher matchup in Week 15 against the second-ranked Bills defense.

Drills trio of field goals
Prater converted all three of his field-goal attempts and his lone PAT during Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: The Lions' inability to convert in the red zone gave Prater a number of opportunities to rack up points, and the veteran responded with his fourth performance with at least three successful field goals. Now 23-for-26 on FGAs in 2018, Prater will proceed into Week 14 as a quality fantasy option in most formats.

One field-goal attempt vs. Bears
Prater converted his lone field-goal attempt and his only PAT during Thursday's 23-16 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: Going up against the Bears' third-ranked scoring defense (19.2 points allowed per game), the Lions predictably had trouble moving the ball most of the game. However, the veteran could be in for a bounce-back effort in Week 13 when the Lions host the Rams' 23rd-ranked scoring defense (25.6). Through 11 games, Prater has successfully converted 20 of 23 field-goal tries and all 22 of his PATs.

Finds more success from long range
Prater converted both of his field-goal attempts and both of his PATs during Sunday's 20-19 victory over Carolina.
Analysis: Prater's day could've been even bigger had a delay of game penalty not forced the Lions to punt after the team initially lined up for a 58-yard field goal attempt. Prater was otherwise perfect from 32- and 54-yards out. Look for the veteran to again be one of the most trusted kickers in the league in Week 12 against the Bears.

Converts 50-yarder in Windy City
Prater converted his only field-goal attempt as well as his only PAT during Sunday's 34-22 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: The slumping Lions offense fell prey to a vicious Bears defense, and Prater's production once again suffered as a result. However, fantasy owners can at least be thankful that the kicker's one chance at a field goal came from 50 yards out, a distance from which Prater has now made two of four this season. Detroit should have an easier time offensively in Week 11 when the Lions host an overrated Panthers defense allowing 25.8 points per game, the 10th-most leaguewide.

Drills three field goals in divisional loss
Prater converted all three of his field-goal attempts during Sunday's 24-9 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The Lions offense was even less effective than it was last week against Seattle, especially in the red zone. However, Minnesota's ability to keep Detroit from reaching the painted area ultimately gave Prater a trio of field-goal opportunities, and the veteran rang true on all of his attempts for the sixth time in eight games. While Prater remains one of the most reliable veteran kickers in the game, it might be wise to find another fantasy option in Week 10 when his team travels to the Windy…read more
